Album Notes & Community Reviews
Marking a daring pivot away from their traditional swing revivalism, 'Extensions' finds The Manhattan Transfer heavily embracing contemporary electronic and fusion arrangements. The vocal group tackles incredibly challenging vocalese adaptations of Weather Report's 'Birdland' alongside sleek, disco-tinged pop originals like 'Twilight Zone/Twilight Tone'. The adventurous project was a massive critical and commercial success, earning them multiple Grammy Awards.
