Album Notes & Community Reviews

Representing a peak in their mid-70s vocal-oriented phase, 'Fire on the Bayou' sees The Meters fully integrating deep funk with traditional New Orleans R&B heritage. Anchored by the impenetrable rhythmic interplay of Zigaboo Modeliste and George Porter Jr., the album delivers swampy, deeply syncopated grooves that define the Louisiana funk sound.
