Album Notes & Community Reviews

Operating as the paramount studio band in New Orleans under producer Allen Toussaint, the quartet perfected their sparse, heavily syncopated approach to instrumental groove. Zigaboo Modeliste's incredibly agile, off-beat drumming and Leo Nocentelli's scratchy guitar work created a deeply infectious, minimalist funk blueprint that remains immensely influential.
