Album Notes & Community Reviews
Having pioneered the blistering speed of California hardcore on their earliest EPs, the group underwent a radical stylistic transformation for this full-length debut. 'Homeland' slows the tempos dramatically, adopting a somber, gothic-tinged post-punk sound deeply indebted to British acts like Joy Division. The shift alienated their original punk fanbase but demonstrated a striking willingness to evolve beyond the constraints of the scene they helped create.
