Album Notes & Community Reviews

Anchored by Bid's erudite, highly satirical lyricism and Lester Square's twangy, surf-inspired guitar leads, 'Eligible Bachelors' is a masterpiece of eccentric British indie-pop. The band's refusal to align with prevailing post-punk orthodoxies resulted in a fiercely independent, witty sound that strongly influenced groups like The Smiths.
