Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, the band's twentieth studio album was captured in the same sessions as their previous record, 'Getting Into Knives'. The project leans into significantly moodier, jazz-inflected instrumentation, featuring prominent Hammond organ and woodwinds. John Darnielle's lyricism focuses heavily on isolation, sanctuary, and impending disaster, serving as a dark, nocturnal counterpart to their usually energetic folk-rock.
