The second album from The New Year, a band formed from the ashes of slowcore legends Bedhead, continues to refine their signature sound. 'The End Is Near' is another masterful collection of melancholic and melodic indie rock, built on the intricate, clean-guitar interplay and deadpan vocals of the Kadane brothers. It's a calm, sad, and beautifully understated record that lives up to the incredible legacy of their previous band.
