Album Notes & Community Reviews

Operating effectively as James Mercer's solo project with a completely revamped backing band, the indie-pop stalwarts deliver a bright, self-produced fifth album. The record relies on bubbly, synthesizer-heavy psychedelic pop arrangements that cleverly disguise lyrics addressing anxiety, fading romance, and aging. It was praised as a remarkably catchy, highly polished continuation of Mercer's iconic songwriting.
