Album Notes & Community Reviews
Operating outside the prevailing synthetic trends of the late eighties, the New York-based collective sculpted a stark, acoustic-driven vision of American heartland music. 'Cuba' utilizes unadorned violins and jangling guitars to weave earnest, rural narratives within an alternative rock framework. Championed by critics upon release, the album profoundly influenced the development of the nineties alt-country movement.
