Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut album by the nine-piece Kingston group formed by Tommy McCook, Rolando Alphonso, Don Drummond, Jackie Mittoo, Lloyd Brevett, Lloyd Knibb, Jah Jerry Haynes, Johnny Moore and Jackie Opel was recorded in the spring for producer Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd. Its programme mixes instrumentals such as 'Freedom Sounds' with vocals by the Gaylads, Lee Perry, the Maytals and Jackie Opel. The first pressing sold out and the album went unreissued for decades, while an English version issued three years later shared only two of its songs.
