Paul Weller dramatically expanded his musical palette on 'Our Favourite Shop', blending incredibly slick, horn-driven sophisti-pop with upbeat Britfunk and jazz influences. Beneath the bright, highly melodic production, the album features fiercely conscious, socialist critiques of Thatcher's Britain and widespread consumerism. It is a deeply warm, deeply political, and highly eclectic highlight of sophisticated 80s pop.
