Album Notes & Community Reviews

Marking a pivotal transition for the group, 'Gettin' Ready' seamlessly passes the primary songwriting and production torch from Smokey Robinson to Norman Whitfield. The album is anchored by the soaring vocal performance of David Ruffin on the iconic 'Ain't Too Proud to Beg', showcasing a grittier, slightly more aggressive Motown sound. It crystallized their status as the preeminent male vocal group in American soul music.
