Album Notes & Community Reviews

A revolutionary recording in the acoustic canon, 'Manzanita' famously omits the banjo to place Tony Rice's peerless flatpicking guitar and rich vocals front and center. Supported by titans like David Grisman and Ricky Skaggs, the arrangements push traditional bluegrass boundaries with jazz-inflected phrasing and sophisticated song selection. It is universally regarded as a masterclass that permanently elevated the technical standard of modern roots music.
