Intended to be their long-awaited mainstream breakthrough, the final studio album from the celebrated Australian band boasts glossy production from Stephen Street and Stephen Duffy. 'The Black Swan' incorporates surprisingly bright electronic instrumentation and drum programming, diverging sharply from the stark, cinematic folk-rock of their masterpiece 'Born Sandy Devotional'. Despite its ambitious pop sheen, the album failed commercially, leading to the group's dissolution.
