Recorded on a meager budget during incredibly tight midnight studio sessions, this debut full-length brilliantly captured the desolate, rural mythology of the acclaimed Western Australian ensemble. 'Treeless Plain' merges the anxious, driving energy of post-punk with distinctly rural folk instrumentation, heavily centered on David McComb's deeply literate, cinematic songwriting. The record laid the foundational aesthetics for what would later become known globally as the Australian alternative country sound.
