Album Notes & Community Reviews

In a fascinating cross-generational collaboration, the legendary 1960s British garage rock pioneers teamed up with members of R.E.M., Peter Holsapple, and The dB's for this unexpected comeback. 'Athens Andover' revitalized the band's gritty pop-rock sound with prominent jangle-pop textures and polished alternative rock sensibilities. The album was widely celebrated as a charming, deeply respectful synthesis of classic rock and roll with its 90s alternative descendants.
