Album Notes & Community Reviews

Standing as a crown jewel of the fabled Flying Nun roster, this debut album heavily differentiates itself through Graeme Downes' formal classical music training. 'Hallelujah All the Way Home' intertwines complex, orchestral-inspired tempo changes and prominent horns with the scrappy, reverb-drenched jangle pop inherent to the Dunedin Sound. The record remains a fiercely intellectual and wildly melodic touchstone of New Zealand independent music.
