Serving as the final release from Michael Gira and Jarboe's acoustic-oriented side project (originally named Skin), the record is a beautiful, melancholic foray into neofolk. The sparse, haunting atmospheres heavily foreshadowed the gothic, ethereal folk sound that Swans would adopt later in their career.
