Album Notes & Community Reviews

Standing out amidst the British indie landfill of the late 2000s, the Southend-on-Sea quartet's debut album is an incredibly tense, rhythmically demanding exercise in post-punk paranoia. The tracks utilize rigid, industrial drum machine loops intertwined with live percussion, jagged guitar stabs, and Jack Barnett's esoteric, cryptic lyricism. The record's stark, tribal minimalism hinted at the vast, neoclassical ambition of their subsequent work.
