Novaya Zemlya

Album Notes & Community Reviews

The veteran German electronic artist continues his profound sonic exploration of extreme, desolate Arctic landscapes on this masterful ambient recording. Named after the remote Russian archipelago infamous as a Soviet nuclear testing site, the album relies on glacial sub-bass frequencies and heavily treated field recordings of wind and ice. It functions as an incredibly isolating, deeply chilling auditory representation of environmental hostility and nuclear dread.
