Album Notes & Community Reviews
Smoothing out some of the jagged, unpredictable edges of their earlier work, the Boston band delivered a slightly more accessible but still fiercely intelligent third album. 'Hunkpapa' is notable for featuring Tanya Donelly's first major lead vocal contribution on the standout track 'Dizzy', signaling a slight shift in the band's dynamic. Kristin Hersh鈥檚 complex, rhythmic guitar style and surreal lyricism remain firmly at the core of the record.
