Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded entirely with Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley during a period of expecting his first child, the influential guitarist's solo debut provides a surprisingly stripped-down, deeply intimate look at his songwriting. The remarkably loose, remarkably raw arrangements frequently favor straightforward acoustic strumming and lethargic slacker-rock melodies, punctuated by his trademark bursts of chaotic, atonal guitar noise. It stands as a surprisingly tender, highly personal detour from his primary band's massively layered soundscapes.
