Album Notes & Community Reviews

Backed by a stellar acoustic quintet, the alto saxophonist delivered a complex, highly acclaimed set on a major label. 'Sanctified Dreams' balances intricate, wildly unpredictable compositional structures with explosive free jazz improvisation. The recording solidified Berne's reputation as a vital, uncompromising voice within the late-eighties New York avant-garde jazz scene.
