Crystal Machine
by Tim Blake
Following his departure from the psychedelic rock collective Gong, the British synthesist compiles a mesmerizing solo debut drawn entirely from live performances. Utilizing the EMS Synthi A and early tape loop techniques, the record pioneers a uniquely ethereal, bubbling approach to space ambient music. It effectively bridges the gap between French avant-garde sensibilities and the pulsating sequencer frameworks of the Berlin School.
