Lorca

by Tim Buckley

Lorca cover art

'Lorca' documents Tim Buckley's decisive turn towards the avant-garde, trading traditional folk song structures for a free-form, vocally driven sound influenced by free jazz and abstract poetry. The title track and its A-side counterparts are defined by stark, atonal explorations featuring Buckley's multi-octave voice against a sparse backdrop of 12-string guitar and pipe organ. This challenging experimentalism, named for the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca, establishes the album as a pivotal and polarizing work that bridges his earlier folk-jazz leanings and the radical abstraction of his subsequent material.
