Album Notes & Community Reviews

Anchored by its phenomenally successful, anti-war title track, the R&B vocalist's definitive release is characterized by its stark, groundbreaking minimalism. The revolutionary use of an early, preset rhythm machine beneath swirling Hammond organ chords and impassioned vocals created a highly intimate, lo-fi aesthetic that heavily influenced the development of electronic soul and disco.
