Album Notes & Community Reviews
Streamlining their historically dense, orchestral arrangements, the Nottingham ensemble aimed for a more direct, soulful sound on their fourth LP. The incorporation of prominent female backing vocals and tighter, rhythm-and-blues-inflected grooves provides a surprisingly uplifting counterpoint to Stuart Staples's trademark melancholic baritone.
