Album Notes & Community Reviews

Demonstrating immense technical innovation, this experimental pop album was constructed entirely and exclusively using multitracked recordings of Rundgren's own voice. 'A Cappella' extensively employs the nascent E-mu Emulator sampler to digitally manipulate his vocal takes into convincing approximations of basslines, synthesizers, and drum kits. The deeply ambitious studio project acts as a fascinating bridge between traditional doo-wop harmonies and modern digital sequencing.
