Album Notes & Community Reviews
The landmark debut on the ECM label for the legendary Polish trumpeter, backed by an exceptional quartet featuring bassist Dave Holland and drummer Edward Vesala. The music is characterized by its stark, freezing atmosphere and deeply melancholic free jazz improvisations. It is widely regarded as a masterful, defining document of the somber European avant-garde jazz aesthetic.
