Album Notes & Community Reviews

Assembling a brand-new Nordic backing band, the legendary Polish trumpeter delivers one of the finest late-career achievements of the ECM catalog. The compositions are deeply moody and expansive, focusing on lyrical, melancholy improvisations inspired by the artwork of Oskar Kokoschka. It masterfully balances gripping, suspenseful post-bop energy with beautiful, cinematic European jazz restraint.
