Album Notes & Community Reviews
Issued on the legendary Incus label, British percussionist Tony Oxley's 'February Papers' is a masterclass in abstract free improvisation and early electro-acoustic abstraction. Oxley augments his drum kit with prepared objects, electronics, and violin, generating a dense landscape of metallic textures and erratic rhythms. The recording represents an uncompromising rejection of traditional meter and harmony in favor of pure sonic exploration.
