Album Notes & Community Reviews

Ending a five-year studio hiatus, the legendary Chicago instrumental quintet returns with a remarkably loud, heavily synthesized exploration of rhythm. The tracks abandon their signature jazzy meandering in favor of driving, abrasive post-punk basslines, eight-bit electronic manipulation, and aggressive percussion that borders on dance music. It signaled a surprisingly energetic, futuristic reinvigoration for the post-rock pioneers.
