Album Notes & Community Reviews

Facing the immense pressure of following her phenomenally successful debut, Tracy Chapman delivered a resilient, highly philosophical sophomore effort. 'Crossroads' continues her focus on stark acoustic instrumentation and profoundly soulful vocal delivery, tackling issues of systemic inequality, personal faith, and materialism. While lacking the crossover pop impact of its predecessor, it solidified her standing as a vital, socially conscious voice in contemporary folk.
