Hawkins's solo debut was produced by her husband Walter Hawkins, who wrote every track, and recorded at Wally Heider Studios in San Francisco. It earned a Grammy nomination for Best Soul Gospel Performance, Contemporary, from a singer who had already sung on the Edwin Hawkins Singers' 'Oh Happy Day' at seventeen.
