Different When It's Silent

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Arriving six years after his previous solo effort, Tricky's fifteenth studio album represents a return to his core aesthetic following a string of collaborative side projects. Heavily informed by the sudden passing of his daughter, the record channels profound grief and existential tension through a brooding, cinematic soundscape. Marking a notable departure from his usual reliance on female surrogates, the project predominantly features the soulful falsetto of Mitch Sanders, whose voice cuts through the Bristol pioneer's signature trip-hop rhythms and minimalistic post-punk arrangements.
