Comprised of early members from Soundgarden and Screaming Trees, the Seattle supergroup delivered a sprawling, incredibly dense psychedelic masterpiece that completely bypassed traditional grunge formulas. The highly conceptual, space-rock-infused production frequently utilizes massive walls of mellotron and thick, effects-drenched guitar fuzz to narrate heavily drug-addled, surreal vignettes. Despite significant critical acclaim and major label backing, the record tragically remained a profoundly overlooked hidden gem of the era.
