Album Notes & Community Reviews

The Norwegian saxophonist makes his ECM Records debut leading a large, unconventional chamber-jazz ensemble. 'Different Rivers' emphasizes slow, breathing compositions that draw heavily on European classical music, avoiding the traditional rhythm section entirely in favor of interconnected woodwinds and brass. The resulting album perfectly encapsulates the austere, deeply atmospheric 'ECM Style Jazz'.
