Album Notes & Community Reviews
Produced entirely by Tyler, the Creator, 'Igor' is a concept album that merges hip-hop with funk, R&B, and neo-soul, defined by its heavy use of synthesizers, layered harmonies, and low-mixed, often distorted, vocals. The record's narrative traces a love triangle and the resulting emotions of heartbreak and jealousy, employing the literary archetype of Igor to represent a darker facet of the protagonist's persona. Commercially successful and critically lauded, the album became Tyler's first to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 and won the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
