Members... Don't!

Album Notes & Community Reviews

Recorded live at The Jazz Gallery, 'Members... Don't!' presents a double-album tribute and expansive contemporary reimagining of Max Roach's landmark 1968 release, 'Members, Don't Git Weary'. The Pulitzer Prize-winning composer and master drummer leads a formidable quintet featuring trumpeter Adam O'Farrill, saxophonist Mark Shim, pianist Lex Korten, and bassist Tyrone Allen, with a guest vocal appearance by Fay Victor. Through open modal frameworks and shifting, uncommon time signatures, the long-form instrumental suites extend the original's themes of social resilience and collective perseverance into a dense, immersive sonic environment.
