Pillars

Album Notes & Community Reviews

'Pillars' is a monumental, nearly four-hour work for an octet presented as a three-part continuous composition. The music unfolds as a slow-moving, ritualistic suite, blending the textural focus of drone and minimalism with the dynamic arc of conducted improvisation and modern chamber music. Led by Sorey, the bass-heavy ensemble utilizes extended instrumental techniques, electronics, and stark silences to create a sound that is both spacious and intensely detailed, shifting between quiet contemplation and dense, turbulent climaxes.
