Stare Into Death and Be Still

Album Notes & Community Reviews

On 'Stare Into Death and Be Still', Ulcerate deliberately shifts its approach, injecting a greater sense of melody and harmony into its famously dense and dissonant style of technical death metal. The album moves away from a pure wall-of-sound production, instead favoring clarity that highlights the intricate, dynamic interplay between Michael Hoggard's atmospheric guitar layers and Jamie Saint Merat's virtuosic drumming. Thematically, the work confronts mortality with a harrowing and introspective gravity, resulting in a sound that is simultaneously atmospheric, emotionally potent, and technically complex.
