Album Notes & Community Reviews

The debut incarnation of Karl Hyde and Rick Smith's long-running project leaned heavily into polished, funk-inflected synthpop and new wave structures. Produced in a slick, contemporary style, it achieved moderate success in the United States and Australia while adopting a slightly sarcastic, party-ready aesthetic. The record provides a fascinating contrast to the pioneering progressive house and techno sound the duo would famously adopt in the following decade.
