Album Notes & Community Reviews

Featuring an immensely warm and nimble trombone tone, this date strikes a compelling balance between cerebral East Coast arrangements and blues-rooted hard bop energy. The bandleader glides through complex chord changes with effortless lyricism, supported by a rhythm section capable of subtle shading and aggressive drive. The album highlights the sophisticated middle ground between intense blowing sessions and rigid, overly arranged cool jazz.
