Album Notes & Community Reviews

An early release for the then-new Vermont label, catalogued 1004 in its master discography, and Phillips's first album since a dissatisfying 1960 session for Prestige. Its title is the punchline of 'Moose Turd Pie', his story of working as a gandy dancer in the Southwestern desert, which received extensive airplay in 1973, alongside 'Daddy, What's a Train?', written for his son Duncan, and 'Queen of the Rails'.
