Album Notes & Community Reviews
Marking the highly publicized debut of Sammy Hagar as lead vocalist, '5150' smoothly transitions Van Halen from party-metal into pristine, radio-ready AOR and pop-rock. Eddie Van Halen significantly increases the use of bright, prominent synthesizers, crafting massive, melodic arena anthems and highly sentimental power ballads. It was a massive commercial triumph that successfully redefined the band's energetic, hard rock sound for a new era.
