Conceived as a grand, theatrical suite, this ambitious project moves decisively away from the sweeping cinematic textures of his soundtrack work to embrace a darker, more classical aesthetic. 'Mask' prominently features a massive operatic choir singing in an invented language, propelled by intense, heavily sequenced synthesizer arpeggios and bombastic acoustic percussion. The album is divided into six un-named movements, creating a deeply ritualistic and imposing atmosphere.
