Album Notes & Community Reviews
Pioneering an early thematic concept album, the baritone bandleader compiles a sequence of heavily orchestrated, lunar-themed romantic ballads. His robust, muscular vocal delivery provides a striking contrast to the lush, sentimental string arrangements. The record proved highly successful in providing comforting, atmospheric escapism for post-war audiences.
