Recorded live at the Musikverein, 'Neujahrskonzert 1999' was the tenth of the eleven New Year Concerts Lorin Maazel conducted, a run that began in 1980 and concluded in 2005. Maazel also stepped forward as violin soloist during the concert, a dual role few other conductors of the event have attempted.
