Album Notes & Community Reviews
The visionary trumpeter and composer unites an astonishing supergroup of free-jazz pioneers, including Jack DeJohnette, Anthony Davis, and Malachi Favors. 'Golden Quartet' serves as the debut recording for this ensemble, showcasing Smith's unique 'Ankhrasmation' compositional language. The album navigates between deeply structured avant-garde jazz forms and profound, intuitive group improvisation, released under John Zorn's Tzadik imprint.
