Propelled by the MTV success of 'Mexican Radio', Wall of Voodoo perfected their remarkably unique 'Spaghetti Western new wave' sound on their sophomore album. 'Call of the West' pairs driving drum machines and twangy, Morricone-esque guitars with Stan Ridgway's deeply cynical, anxious storytelling, yielding a dark, highly quirky portrait of desert Americana.
